A BIT ABOUT ME

I am a speech and hearing sciences graduate student with a passion for motor speech and augmentative and alternative communication. My clinical experience includes a hearing oral preschool, the State of Idaho Infant Toddler Program, and work in the Coeur d’Alene School District. I completed a bachelor’s degree with a major in Communication Disorders and a minor in Family Life at Brigham Young University. I am currently working toward a master’s degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences at Washington State University.

FIELDS OF STUDY

SPEECH AND HEARING SCIENCES

I am currently working toward a master’s degree in Speech and Hearing Sciences at Washington State University. My clinical interests include motor speech disorders and augmentative and alternative communication. I have extensive and varied clinical experience in the pediatric and school age populations.

CHILD DEVELOPMENT

I completed a minor in the school of family life at Brigham Young University. Coursework included child development classes, as well as behavior management techniques for interacting with students in a classroom. In addition, I have many years of experience working with children in different capacities including: childcare, teaching in a classroom setting, motivating and team building in a summer camp setting, and providing therapy in multiple settings.

LANGUAGE

I have a passion for studying languages. I have completed coursework for American Sign Language as well as six years of coursework in German. I have also completed 19 credits of coursework in Portuguese. I have visited German-speaking countries on a number of occasions to further my knowledge and acquisition of the German language. I am fluent in Portuguese and spent 18 months in Brazil as a missionary, where I lived with Brazilians and was completely immersed in the Portuguese Language.

OTHER STUFF

ART

In my spare time I enjoy many different types of dance. My favorites include Polynesian dance, ballroom, tap, and ballet. I play the flute and piano and continue to perform on occasion. I also enjoy video editing and have created a number of videos including a wedding video for a friend.
